SAN JOSE CONVENTION CENTER: 14'X14' PAINTED QUILTS, COMMISSIONED BY THE CITY OF
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY From 1989-1993, I worked on two huge
fourteen foot square quilts which were installed in the San Jose Convention Center.
I rented a very large warehouse studio space and I had a 16 foot high working
wall built so that I could see the quilts as I translated the designs into fabric.
I was paid $36,000 for "Animal Spiral" and $41,000 for "Butterfly". This process
was challenging and rewarding!
