SPIRITUAL COUNSELING

I am a licensed Practitioner of Religious Science. This means that I practice being a healing presence for all I come into contact with, and that I believe that God is in everything and everyone, and that everything and everyone is a blessing. We are all one. I believe that Spirituality and Creativity are one and the same and that having a Spiritual and Creative practice is what heals us! I do Spiritual counseling and prayer work. For an appointment call (408) 292-3247 or email MAYQUILTER@aol.com

MINISTERIAL SCHOOL

I have finished one full year of Ministerial School! I have decided that one year is enough. Now, I am beginning work on a new phase of my art work

QUILTS FOR KIDS!

Is a project for creating a deeper community connection, for more bonding, and for team building. The beautiful children’s quilts, which we create are given to various children (and adults) in the world who could use more nurturing and more comfort. This project is for everyone. It is for those who like to work with fabric, for those who like to work with people, for those who love kids, and for anyone with materials or sewing tools to donate or for anyone who would like to give money. We especially welcome cotton fabric, batting, rotary cutters and curved needles. We meet at Center for Spiritual Living, 1195 Clark St., San Jose, Ca. 95125 on one Saturday each month. Please call me for more information! 408-292-3247, or email MAYQUILTER@aol.com

INDIVIDUAL ART QUILT LESSONS

Do you feel like you would like to expand your creativity? Would you like to start a new direction in your art quilts? Do you have a child who could benefit from individual attention in a creative setting? I can help you find your own direction in your creative expression. I love to work with children and adults of all ages. The lessons are one to two hours, and we do painting, quilting, polymer clay, and various crafts. This is a wonderful, enjoyable experience for all concerned! $50 per hour.

INNER CHILD PRAYER QUILTS

Would you like to focus some special time and prayers on the beautiful creative child within you? I have begun to create some prayer quilts for this wonderful purpose! I take a small photo of the child (or whoever is the subject of the prayer), make a photo transfer of it onto cloth, then I sew perfect borders around it to whatever size is required. Then I surround that with prayer pockets, one for each day. Prayer Pockets are for containing the prayers, which you have written on little slips of paper. Some quilts have seven prayer pockets, some have fourteen, and some have thirty-one prayer pockets surrounding the person being prayed for. I am available to do commissions, and also to teach workshops on how to make the "Inner Child Prayer Quilt".

PAINTED AND EMBELLISHED MUSIC BOXES

I still have some embellished music boxes. I began this project when my significant other, Larry Hedberg gave me an old music box around Christmas time. It still worked beautifully, but the outside of it was a bit tattered. The idea was that I could decorate the surface of it to create a work of art. So I began doing that, and then we got the idea of giving it to Larry’s daughter, Lisa and her husband, John for Christmas, and it made a perfect gift from both of us! Please visit my studio to see these.

PAINTED AND EMBELLISHED WOODEN CROSSES

I also have a series of 12 wooden crosses, painted and embellished. I asked my ex, Tony May to make these crosses for me, and in exchange I made some new kitchen curtains for him. These are available now.

PAINTED AND EMBELLISHED STRETCHED QUILT BLOCKS

I have also have a series of 9"x9" stretched quilt blocks, painted and embellished, as well as some painted and embellished rocks.

HEALING QUILTS FOR DOCTOR’S OFFICES, HOSPITALS OR CHILDREN’S ROOMS--"PUZZLE INTERCHANGE MACHINE APPLIQUÉ"

These are portrait quilts or animal quilts or flowers in vibrant colors; sometimes bright, sometimes soft. The fabrics are chosen with uplifting, healing messages in mind. They are "friendly quilts" which inspire a feeling of caring and compassion, or sometimes a sense of humor or fun.

I design them in such a way that I can share the process with others. I have other people cut out the shapes for me and help with the sewing and quilting. Also, this is a process that is easily taught. I call it the "Quilted Portrait". I have been featured on the HGTV show, "Simply Quilts" with Alex Anderson with a demonstration of this technique. Many quilters have asked for the pattern and instructions to the "Quilted Portrait"
